The product has been evolving for many years and combines well-established functionality with continuous development of new capabilities. The engineering organization is focused on extending the platform, improving existing areas, and gradually modernizing its technical foundations while maintaining the stability and quality expected from an established product.

Engineers work with a substantial production codebase and solve a broad range of technical challenges. The work requires understanding existing behavior, investigating complex problems, evaluating different approaches, and introducing improvements carefully without disrupting established functionality.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Windows Software Engineer to join an experienced engineering team responsible for an established commercial product.

This is a hands-on role with significant individual ownership. You will develop and improve Windows-based software, solve complex engineering problems, and contribute to the performance, reliability, and long-term quality of the product.

You will be expected to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and take solutions from investigation through implementation and production support while collaborating with engineers across the broader product organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve Windows-based software, primarily using C#/.NET.
• Design and implement new functionality while improving existing components.
• Investigate technically complex issues across an established production codebase.
• Analyze software behavior and identify opportunities to improve performance and efficiency.
• Design reliable and maintainable solutions for production environments.
• Work with existing components written in other languages, including C++, when required.
• Take ownership of technical problems from initial investigation through implementation, validation, and production support.
• Collaborate with engineers across different areas of the product on features and technical improvements.
• Contribute to the gradual modernization and improvement of existing software.
• Use AI-assisted development tools as part of your daily engineering workflow while critically reviewing and validating generated solutions.

Required Competence and Skills:

• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in C#/.NET.
• Extensive experience developing and maintaining Windows-based software.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and building reliable production systems.
• Experience identifying and resolving performance and efficiency issues in complex applications.
• Experience working with large, mature production codebases.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate unfamiliar technical areas independently.
• Ability to take substantial individual ownership and operate effectively with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work with existing C++ code when necessary; 
• Practical experience using modern AI coding tools 
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have:

• Experience developing endpoint agents, background services, or other long-running desktop software.
• Hands-on C++ development experience.
• Experience with virtualized desktop environments.
• Experience with macOS development.
• Experience with embedded web-based interfaces in desktop applications.
