We are building an AI-first platform that fuses multiple maritime data sources into a unified operational picture. The system builds a digital twin of global maritime activity, applies behavioral analytics and predictive AI models to surface smuggling, illegal fishing, container risk, and other compliance or security threats, and presents mission-grade intelligence to both commercial and government stakeholders. 

Operating at global scale, the platform processes millions of events and terabytes of geospatial data daily, relies on cloud infrastructure and microservices, and integrates with upstream research prototypes from data science teams.

About the Role:

As a Senior Frontend Engineer on this team, you will own the design and delivery of high-performance, interactive web interfaces that embed AI-powered workflows end-to-end.
You will collaborate with data scientists, backend engineers, and product stakeholders to integrate large language models and autonomous agents directly into the user experience.
In this fully remote, agentic-first environment, you will work with minimal supervision, influence core architectural decisions, and accelerate the rollout of secure, AI-assisted development and operations across the platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement high-performance, responsive user interfaces using Next.js and React.
• Integrate LLM-based capabilities and agentic components into the frontend to support interactive workflows.
• Establish observability and monitoring for AI components to detect drift, hallucinations, and performance issues in production.
• Drive adoption of AI-enhanced SDLC practices, including automated testing, rigorous code reviews, and trace-based quality checks.
• Evaluate emerging frontend frameworks, agentic UI/UX patterns, and cloud technologies to inform the technical roadmap.
• Mentor fellow engineers on best practices in frontend development and AI integration.

Required Competence and Skills:

• 7+ years of professional experience in frontend or full-stack engineering, with a strong focus on React and Next.js.
• Deep expertise in Next.js (App Router, Server Components/Actions) and React.js for large-scale applications.
• Proficiency in TypeScript / JavaScript, including state management libraries (Redux, Zustand) and data fetching (TanStack Query).
• Experience designing and maintaining component libraries (e.g., Storybook, Material UI).
• Practical agentic AI experience (Claude Code or alternatives) utilizing MCP, custom .md files, and orchestrating subagent workflows.
• Ability to work independently, challenge decisions and lead technical discussions.
• Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

Nice to Have:

• Background in Python or Go to facilitate cross-language full-stack collaborations
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures on AWS, including Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Comfort with consuming and integrating GraphQL or REST APIs and working with messaging systems (SQS, SNS).
• Hands-on experience with agentic development frameworks such as LangChain, DeepAgents, Hermes or similar. Familiarity with agentic UI/UX frameworks (e.g., A2UI, MCP-UI) and autonomous workflow patterns.
