About the Product:

We are building an AI-first platform that fuses multiple maritime data sources into a unified operational picture. The system builds a digital twin of global maritime activity, applies behavioral analytics and predictive AI models to surface smuggling, illegal fishing, container risk, and other compliance or security threats, and presents mission-grade intelligence to both commercial and government stakeholders. 

Operating at global scale, the platform processes millions of events and terabytes of geospatial data daily, relies on cloud infrastructure and microservices, and integrates with upstream research prototypes from data science teams. 

About the Role:

You will join an autonomous team formed to pioneer agentic, AI-first workflows within a production-grade maritime intelligence platform.
You will own the design, delivery and operation of backend services that power generative AI agents at scale, influence core architectural decisions, and drive AI-SDLC standards across the organization.
This role offers a chance to shape an end-to-end system used by defense, regulatory and enterprise customers, and accelerate agent-based automation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and build scalable microservices in Python to support agentic workflows and data pipelines within a distributed system, contributing to frontend development when needed (React).
• Lead integration of generative AI capabilities – LLM APIs, RAG pipelines and autonomous agents – into production environments.
• Implement operational practices and observability for AI components, including monitors for model drift, hallucination detection and performance metrics.
• Establish and enforce AI-SDLC practices: code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and continuous trace-based quality evaluations.
• Design and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, Kubernetes (K8s) and related AWS services.
• Drive improvements in engineering speed and quality through tooling, automation and architectural enhancements.
• Mentor engineers on emerging AI frameworks, developer tools and best practices for high-scale agentic development.
• Collaborate with product and research teams to translate user requirements into reliable, secure backend services.

Required Competence and Skills:

• 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience, including at least 2 years building agentic or autonomous AI workflows in production.
• Deep experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience in agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, DeepAgents, CrewAI, OpenClaw, Hermes (or equivalent).
• Proven track record designing scalable, event-driven architectures on AWS, including messaging (SQS/SNS) and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of GraphQL or REST API design and DevOps practices, including CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Skilled in implementing production-grade security, monitoring and incident response for mission-critical systems.
• Excellent communication, autonomy and accountability in ambiguous, high-velocity environments.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with React.js and full-stack development.
• Familiarity with vector databases and similarity search for AI applications.
