About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Back End Engineer to join a product engineering team working on complex, large-scale software systems. This is a predominantly backend-focused role, with occasional frontend development when required by the project.

You will take end-to-end ownership of technical solutions, from requirements analysis and system design to implementation and deployment. The role involves developing both product-facing functionality and shared backend services, while ensuring seamless integration with an established distributed architecture.

We are looking for an independent, proactive engineer with strong technical judgment and a product-oriented mindset. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence architectural decisions, and solve challenging engineering problems with a high degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable production backend services using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Take ownership of system-design decisions for new capabilities and ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL queries, indexes, and database performance.
• Contribute to React-based frontend functionality when required by the project.
• Work closely with DevOps engineers on deployments, observability, infrastructure capacity, and production readiness.
• Handle a variety of engineering activities, including feature development, bug fixes, security improvements, and production patches.
• Evaluate architectural alternatives and communicate technical trade-offs in the context of product and business requirements.
• Incorporate modern AI development tools into daily engineering activities, including planning, coding, and testing.
• Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and support the resolution of critical production issues.

Required Competence and Skills:

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience building production systems at scale, with a strong understanding of distributed systems.
• Strong hands-on expertise in TypeScript and Node.js, including developing and maintaining complex backend services.
• Solid system-design skills, with the ability to evaluate architectural options and explain technical decisions and trade-offs.
• Strong PostgreSQL expertise, including complex SQL queries, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with React and willingness to contribute to frontend development when necessary; 
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker or Kubernetes, and observability, with an understanding of the deployment lifecycle.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate across engineering teams;
• Strong product-oriented thinking and the ability to connect technical decisions with business and user needs.
• Practical experience using modern AI-assisted development tools.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Microsoft Azure or another major cloud platform.
• Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, or ClickHouse.
• Deeper hands-on DevOps experience, including infrastructure and deployment workflows.
