Adaptiq, on behalf of NextSilicon, is looking for a Senior Compiler Engineer.
About NextSilicon:
NextSilicon is reimagining high-performance computing (HPC) through innovative accelerated computing solutions. The company develops intelligent adaptive algorithms and a software-defined hardware architecture designed to significantly improve supercomputer performance and enable breakthroughs in advanced research.
At NextSilicon, three core values guide the team’s work: professionalism, collaboration, and meaningful impact. The company brings together talented engineers and researchers to develop technologies that push the boundaries of modern computing.
About the Role:
As a Compiler Engineer, you will join NextSilicon’s innovative MLIR compiler team in Brno and help build its next-generation adaptive runtime compiler. The team develops automated optimizations that allow HPC applications to run on NextSilicon’s unique hardware architecture with little or no application code changes.
Using iterative telemetry and optimization, the compiler adapts the accelerator to individual workloads at runtime. In this hands-on role, you will develop compiler analyses and optimizations, benchmark applications, and work closely with software and hardware specialists to improve performance.
We welcome experienced compiler engineers as well as strong mid-level candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, test, and maintain high- and low-level compiler optimizations and analyses for HPC applications.
- Develop and improve adaptive runtime compiler capabilities to unlock additional hardware performance.
- Work with and contribute to upstream MLIR and LLVM.
- Benchmark applications, analyze performance, and identify new optimization opportunities.
- Use benchmarking findings to help guide the compiler team’s technical roadmap.
- Collaborate with software engineers, HPC application engineers, and hardware architects to align solutions with system requirements.
Required Competence and Skills:
- 3+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years of hands-on compiler development. Candidates with around 1 year of directly relevant MLIR experience may also be considered. Relevant research and substantial academic compiler projects will be considered alongside industry experience.
- BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong software engineering background with relevant compiler development experience.
- Experience in C++ or another systems programming language.
- Strong algorithmic intuition, particularly in control flow graphs and code analysis.
- Ability to design, implement, and reason about compiler analyses and optimizations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
Nice to Have:
- Hands-on experience with MLIR.
- Experience with LLVM and upstream open-source compiler contributions.
- Experience optimizing HPC applications or analyzing runtime performance.
- Experience with adaptive or runtime compilation and performance benchmarking.
